Camelot Macaw

A Camelot Macaw is a second generation hybrid cross between a Scarlet & a Catalina Macaw. (A Catalina is a first generation hybrid of a Scarlet x Blue & Gold Macaw). Camelot Macaws come in a diverse array of colors, even though it is often incorrectly assumed that they are all predominantly yellow. This is simply not so, nor is it even close to the truth. The color variation of the Camelot offspring depends largely on the genetics of the parents. Yellow dominant Camelot macaws happen to be the exception, not the rule. There is no authenticated method that I know of at this time to calculate what coloration the offspring will be. Camelot Macaws are often red dominant with green markings on their backs. No matter what their color, most Camelot Macaws also have a green nape. Only about 1 in 5 are born orange or yellow dominant, with considerable variation in shade & color.
