The Hyacinth Macaw


The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest macaw having length of 100 cm. These macaws have massive black beak with bright yellow along the sides of the lower part of the beak and circling its solid dark eyes, has a solid blue body of feathers, similar to the color of indigo. Female and male are nearly indistinguishable, although the female is typically a bit more slender. In wild found in eastern and southern woodlands of Brazil in small flocks, feeds mainly on palm nuts taken in trees and on ground.These birds are conspicuous and noisy. Streamer like tail gives them distinctive appearance in flight. Their weight is about 1.4-1.7 kg. The wingspan is 130-150 cm.
